GEA Leader Experience

Since 2016, 50+ GEA Leaders have traveled to, Indonesia, India, Kenya, Thailand, Botswana, and South Africa to teach and mentor 800+ students. We are now recruiting the next GEA Leader class for workshops in Asia and Africa. Destinations will be finalized in early 2019 with GEA Workshops expected to take place between May and August 2019.

GEA Leader Role

  • Lead a 5-day GEA Workshop in a partner high school / college 
  • Teach basic macro / micro economics and problem solving skills in a classroom of ~30 students with other GEA Leaders using GEA’s proprietary interactive curriculum
  • Engage in an immersive cultural experience with the local community (e.g. network and engage with local community leaders, visit local cultural sites)
  • Network with fellow GEA Leaders and become part of the global GEA network

GEA Leader Responsibilities

  • Attend mandatory training sessions (~10 hours of training in the Spring, virtual or in person)
  • Individual and team preparation with your co-teacher (~10 additional hours)
  • Funding your own trip (the GEA Project is an independent non-profit not affiliated with any sponsors.)

Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong professional and academic background  
  • Passion, energy, creativity and enthusiasm to work with students 
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Prior teaching experience a plus but not a requirement
  • Economics background is helpful but not required
  • Prior international traveling experience a plus but not a requirement

  • Interviews to begin in December
  • Offers and placements will be communicated by March.
  • Training expected to take place between April and May.
  • GEA Workshops expected to take place in late May and August.
